  • Undergraduate students, graduate students, research students of OTHER faculties or graduate schools (EXCEPT FOR students of Graduate School of Education and Integrated Human Studies) are NOT authorized to enter the stack room. In order to use materials in the stack room, please show us your ID card and the location/call number of the books you are looking for between 9:00 and 17:00.
  • For external users, please contact us in advance. Please visit “External Users” for further information.

Entry to the stack room

Please hand your ID card to us and wear a badge you receive. It is NOT allowed to bring your bag into the stack room so please put it either on shelf next to the Circulation Desk or in locker located next to the entrance.

  • Please keep your valuables with you
  • You can bring into the stack room with your writing materials and notebook.
  • When you are to bring your own books or PC with you into the stock room, please inform us in advance.
  • Please return the badge to the Circulation Desk when you get out of the stack room.

Reading

You can read all books in the reading room without any procedure.
When you are to read stack room books outside, please check out them or ask for a procedure for short-term loan at the Circulation Desk. In the case of short-term loan, the materials must be returned before 7pm. (or Library closing time) on the day.

Photocopying

When you are to copy library materials, please check out them or ask for a procedure for short-term loan at the Circulation Desk before copying. In the case of short-term loan, the materials must be returned before 7pm. (or Library closing time) on the day.

It is possible to copy library materials through printing machine ONLY in your office (for faculty) or in the copying room next to the entrance of this library. In the latter case, please don’t forget to fill in the application form for photocopy, and put it in the submission box before copying.

[!] ATTENTION

In order to preserve materials, Books in Japanese/Chinese binding are NOT available for photocopying, except for printing from a microfilm. Reproduction through microfilm requires a special application. Please fill in the application form for microfilm.(図書・史料(全巻・部分)撮影許可願)

Borrowing

In order to borrow books, please take the books and your ID to the circulation desk.

*You CANNOT borrow journals, books in the reading room (except for some books at the Location [R29] and [R30] ), thesis and dissertation, rare books, microfilms, CDs, DVD-ROMs and so on.
Library items other than journals and books are available untill 17:00.

Renewal (Extention of loan period)

Your books currently on loan can be renewed (the loan period can be extended). Bring your ID card and books to the Circulation Desk during the loan period of the books. You can also renew your loan online via MyKULINE. When you renew the books via MyKULINE, the due date of books you borrowed will be updated, starting from the renewed date. Renewal is available only once.
Renewal request via telephone is NOT available.

[!] ATTENTION

You cannot renew any book in the following cases;

  • The books are already reserved by someone.
  • You’re taking a penalty of your overdue.

Reserving

Books on loan to another user can be reserved and then used as soon as it is returned. Inquire at the Circulation Desk or via MyKULINE.

[!] ATTENTION

You cannot renew any book in the following cases;

  • You’re taking a penalty of your overdue
  • In this case, you cannot borrow, renew or reserve any book for the corresponding days of your overdue.

Returning

Please return your books at the Circulation Desk. After the Library is closed, you can return them into book drop located in front of library entrance, EXCEPT FOR materials that can be easily defiled. (In order to protect books from defilement, we ask you to return your books while the library is open, if it is possible.)

Following materials MUST BE returned at the Circulation Desk.

  • Short term loan materials (only available on that day)
  • Books in traditional Japanese/Chinese bookbinding
  • Fragile books
  • Books from Special Collection
  • CDs / DVD-ROMs, floppy disks, books with separate appendix
  • Large-sized books
